Handgun Fundamentals

Handgun Fundamentals is a skills-focused course covering the core principles of handgun marksmanship and their practical application. Students will learn not only how to apply these fundamentals, but also the reasoning behind each one, enabling more effective and purposeful practice. This course is ideal for individuals who have completed a permit-to-carry class and are seeking the next step in skill development.

Course Objectives

• Safety plan and medical brief
• Explanation and application of marksmanship fundamentals:
  • Stance
  • Grip
  • Sight alignment and sight picture
  • Trigger control
  • Breathing
  • Follow-through
• Recoil management and the importance of proper grip
• Effective practice planning, including dry-fire training techniques

Student and Equipment Requirements

• Reliable handgun
• Minimum of two magazines, or two speedloaders/speed strips for revolvers
• Eye protection
• Ear protection (electronic recommended, not required)
• 150 rounds of ammunition minimum; 200 rounds recommended

Registration Policy and Terms

Due to scheduling uncertainties and minimum enrollment requirements, a 50% refund will be issued for cancellations made prior to the course start date. If Valiant Training Solutions cancels the course, a full refund will be provided.

Registrations may be transferred to another student. To do so, email info@valiant-ts.com with the new registrant’s name, email address, and the original order number.

Additional Information

• Range fees are not included and may range from $10 to $25, depending on the host facility. Fees are payable on the first day of class.
• Students must have a basic understanding of firearm safety and safe handling prior to attending.
