Pistol Mounted Optics Fundamentals
This professionally designed course introduces pistol mounted optics for both law enforcement personnel and responsibly armed civilians. While optics on handguns have been used in competitive shooting for decades, their growing popularity in defensive applications reflects the practical advantages they can offer in accuracy, target focus, and efficiency. If you have recently purchased a pistol mounted optic and want to build a strong foundation in its setup and use, this course is designed for you.
Students will gain a clear understanding of the advantages of a red dot sight on a handgun, along with practical guidance on application, setup, and performance on the range.
Course Fee
- Course tuition: $130.00
- Additional range fee: $15.00, payable directly to Crossroads Shooting Sports on the day of the course
Student Equipment Requirements
- Reliable handgun with pistol mounted optic attached
- Holster designed for a pistol mounted optic and at least one magazine pouch
- Eye protection and hearing protection (electronic hearing protection preferred)
- 300 rounds of ammunition
Course Objectives
- Review safety procedures and the medical plan
- Understand different optics and sight mounting options
- Learn basic maintenance for a pistol mounted optic
- Establish an effective zero for the pistol mounted optic
- Develop techniques for finding and tracking the dot efficiently

- A 50% refund will be provided if you cancel your registration for any reason prior to the event start date.

- Range fees may vary by location and host, typically ranging from $10 to $25, and should be paid on the first day of class.
